When Naomi first started doing school visits, she was struck by how often students asked, “How can I grow up to be an author?” Her quick answers never felt adequate. She remembered what it felt like to be a young writer, filling page after page, wanting feedback, inspiration and some direction. After asking herself, “What would I have wanted when I was growing up?” the idea for Society of Young Inklings was born.
Society of Young Inklings is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering young writers to unleash the power of their unique writing voices. The organization connects young people with professional writers, offers game-based, learner-focused classes, one-on-one mentorships and revision-focused publishing opportunities. Society of Young Inklings values young writers as the unique story-tellers that they are and provides real world opportunities as they learn and develop.
