Writerly Play Activities

Play your way to the page – and past any tough block – with a quick activity perfectly suited to your creativity style.

Which Writerly Play room will you visit?

When you view your thinking through the Writerly Play lens, you can isolate and practice specific skills. Like focused physical training, focused creative training boosts momentum and mastery. Rather than experiencing a vague sense that you’re growing, you can name the skill you’ve improved and clearly see the impact of that growth on your work and life.

As you choose an activity below, step back from your project and ask yourself: What kind of thinking does the next step require? You might choose to play, reflect, strategize, or consult a friend. No matter what you choose, approach the process with curiosity and experimentation. If one activity doesn’t work, try another.

And don’t forget to play to your strengths! Not sure what your creativity style is? Take the quick quiz and find out!

Wondering what Writerly Play is all about?
